SDRAM speed.

Question

Received my XPS 7100 a couple of days ago, and been checking it out with CPU-Z, AMD OverDrive, etc. I haven't kept up with computer specs and the likes over the past several years, so I'm not exactly sure how everything works these days... so anyway, here is my question.

All the programs indicate that my RAM is running at 665MHz, but my system is supposed to have 1333MHz Ram installed. Is there something wrong, did I get the wrong RAM with the system, or is it just something I'm not understanding? By the way, the system has a Phenom 1090T CPU and 8 Gigs of RAM.

The memory is fine, you have DDR3 RAM [Double Data Rate] memory that sends DATA twice per cycle, so you get double data rate and it will show half of what is actually being sent.

Everything's working as it should.

I really like it so far. I wasn't sure that I could OC the system since it is a Dell, but according to AMD Overdrive... doesn't look like it will be a problem. Not sure if I will try it, but it's nice to know that I can if I want to.

I'm going to use this system for CAD, so it should work just fine. My old system was an AMD 2500+ OC'd to a 3200+... but it was getting really slow with each new release of the programs I use.

Thanks for the reply, Bev... that is really good to hear. I quit keeping up with the technology some years back... so I'm a little out of date. My first computer was an XT running at 4.7MHz if I recall... had a 8MHz turbo mode. Was a real expensive system back then... 1986.
