Shutdown without floppy search ?

Each time when I shutdown my dimension 4100 with Win ME, the floppy drive is searching something for some seconds, although there is no floppy inside the drive.

Is it possible to deactivate this behaviour ?

Many thanks for answers

Hi,

One common reason for the behavior is that your antivirus program is set to scan floppies on shutdown. Disable the feature and see if that doesn't solve the problem. If you run NAV 2001, open the Desktop icon, go to Options | AutoProtect | Advanced and uncheck the option.

Antivirus programs are often times worse than getting an actual virus... because, there's a good chance that a truly virulent virus you're going to get in this day and age is going to be so new that your AV software isn't going to get it anyways...

Baaaaah to Anti-virus... just don't run any .vbs attachments... don't download things from untrustable sources (warez)...
