SigmaTel Issues with playback
I have an E520 w/Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHZ, 1024 MB, 14 mos. old. It has integrated sound, w/control described as SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. I've only recently ripped CD's for MP3 player. All play fine on player. Playing with Media Player results in every song breaking up (not playing cleanly) at about 15 seconds from the end of the song for about 5 seconds.
I downloaded & installed R157052.exe (applies to: STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio). It didn't list the E520 as an applicable machine, but I couldn't find any other possible fix (Checks for Driver updates say I have the latest). After installation machine rebooted and came up fine. I played several songs and it appeared the problem was resolved - no some break-up at the end of song.
However, I rebooted again and Vista gave me what seemed to be its version of the Blue screen of Death, saying there was a problem with something and he vista would have to try to fix it before it could boot up.
I restored to the previous configuration.
Can someone advise me as to what the problem/fix is? It does seem to be SigmaTel related to me.

Well, I guess it is as simple as checking the no enhancements box. After reading about this yesterday, I went in and unchecked the enhancement item boxes that were on, and I continued to have the problem. Today I checked the Disable all enhan... box and that seems to have done the trick.
Thank you all for the help!
