Slow Computer Performance after motherboard Replacement

Question

After replacing my motherboard ive seen some dramatic changes in the performance of my computer. For one Every time i turn it on it takes about 20 seconds on the "Windows is starting up" screen right before it displays the users while it used to be instant. Also when i burn dvd's the dvd drive starts to blink along with the little battery LED light(it used to stay solid and i don't remember th battery light) and the whole computer starts to lag like crazy (More than 2min just for a program to open)! unlike before where i could burn and be converting a ton of movies at the same time with almost no lag at all. Is there anyway to fix this or is it the doing of the new motherboard thats causing all this lag and slowness? Also i've been wanting to reformat my computer for some time now with a windows restore cd but i know for a fact i dident get one with my dell. I heard some dell's actually put the restore cd onto your hardrive and have you make it instead. Is this true?if so where? Thanks for your help everyone look forward to hearing from you ^_^! Check in your BIOS to see if your CPU is set to 'compatible' mode.  If this is the case your system will be REALLY slow and not just a little slow.  You did not say what your system was or what you upgraded to but if the BIOS problem isn't the fix you might need to reinstall Windows.  With a different motherboard I'm surprised you even got it to boot to Windows.  If this is the problem you need to reinstall Windows from the CD since F12 only brings back the original install meant for the old motherboard. Even though i got the new mother board from dell(Which looks almost exactly the same as the other) because my old one wasent working it makes a difference?Is it not supposed to start just like that after i hook it up or do i have to do download some drivers or something for it and replace the old ones ( I'm a hardware newbie ) Also my system dident come with the windows xp cd and i know i dont have a warranty still since i got the computer in 2005. So im left with using the dell restore synamtec or whatever its called but is it true it wont help? I was thinking you upgraded on your own to a newer Dell motherboard but the same might apply if the motherboard Dell supplied is different than the old one.  This might not be the case though.  Did you buy the motherboard from Dell?  I hope you didn't pay too much.  If I were you I would back up my files, favorites, etc and try using Dell PC restore.  Did you check the BIOS to see if the processor is set to normal mode?

it was 150$ for the new motherboard...... and as for the bios its set to RAID/AutoDetect AHCI. No idea what that means or does ^_^. Also hdd accustic is set to bypass dunno if thats right either. As of now im backing up my files to restore it.
