Slow starting 4100
The hardware is a Dell 4100 933mhz 256mb ram and 20gb generic IDE disk drive (type 47) I have a CD_R and a CD_RW. I am currently running the following: Win Me 4.90.3000, IE 5.50.4807.2300 with my trusty Outlook Express .50.4807.1700. My startups are ZA 2.6.362, Spyblocker 5.0 and AVG 7.0.308. As my subject implies header implies when I first boot-up the OEM logo stays up for about 45 seconds. Normally it flashes by so quickly it is barely seen. When I run boot analyzer

Has anyone experienced the Dell logo just sitting on the monitor? If so what did you do about it?
Along with this my CD-r and CD-rw are not recognized by my computer. I don't know if this is related. When I boot from a floppy I get these messages
Diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive D
Device driver not found: 'MSCD001'
No valid CDROM device drivers selected.
Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do to solve it?
Thank you
Rita

Rita:
Boot to system setup and see what CD devices are reported under IDE configuration. While there, try resetting the config data (change to Yes). Also, if it's not set, change your boot option to quick.
Post back and let me know what happened.

I'm not certain about the other problem though.

Thank you for your reply. Under IDE configuration I have IDE controller selected to both. The primary IDE master is Maxtor. All other IDE items are "not installed". I reset the config data to yes. The boot option was set to "quick and quiet". I am still getting the Dell logo. The boot order reads as follows:
1st Boot device Floppy
2nd boot device ARMD-FDD
3rd boot device IDE-HDD
4th atapi cdrom
5th disabled
