SM Bus Controller Driver

I have a Dimension 4400 and upgraded a few months ago to a Celeron 2.4G processor.  I just reformatted my drive and installed Windows XP.  Now I am getting an error in my device manager for Other Devices.  The hardware is recognized as the SM Bus Controller.  I tried to locate the driver on the Dell driver CD.  I tried to find it on the Intel site also.  I've tried to install the Intel 800 Chipset driver but during installation I just get the message that my chipset is already supported by my OS.  I tried to install the driver from device manager but it never finds anything.  Any ideas?

boot to safe mode, go to device manager, remove the sm bus controller, then reboot

I just did that.  After the reboot the 'add hardware wizard' still finds it and wants to try and install the driver.  Which it can't.  Any other ideas?

Well I finally got it.  I downloaded a program from the Intel site to detect and get information about my chipset.  Using the information obtained there I tried two or three different chipset INF driver installers listed on the Intel site.  Can't remember the file name but one of them fixed it.  Thanks for your suggestions though...

SM Bus Controller is always a result of the failure to reinstall the Chipset drivers (which should always be installed prior to any other drivers) in Windows XP.  You can find the Chipset drivers on the Dell Dimension Resource CD, or download them from the support website.

The driver is the INF Updater.
