smss.exe causing high cpu usage
I have an inspiron 8300 with a 3.06gHz processor, 512mb ram and lately smss.exe has been using around 40-50% of the cpu, even when the computer is idle. It usually only uses about 1-5% even when i am running it pretty hard. It has caused my system to slow down some, so if anyone has any ideas about why this is happening i would appreciate your input.
Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for the help. It turned out to be from my printer. I downloaded and ran Taskmanager and pinpointed the problem. Thanks for your help.

I have scanned my computer with norton and a spyware program but neither of them turned up anything except roings.com, which i have removed before, so i don't know that this is a virus that is causing my computer to run so fast.
