sound distortion

can anyone help me i am going nuts...the sound on mycomputer has suddenly become distorted, i installed a new soundcard (x-fi xtrememusic) + a i got new speakers (logitech z-2300) but i still have this problem.....thanks

What model PC and what operating system? Is the sound distorted on all types of audio or just certain types such as CD audio?

i have dimension 9150......the sound is distorted on everything....

Reinstall the Dell chipset drivers and see if that helps. It could also be a power supply problem. If it's in warranty call Dell support.

i downloaded and installed the new dell chipsets but still no luck...does the sound card need it`s own power supply?.... as you can see i`m not clued up on computers......thanks for your help
