Sound Issues

I have a dell 5150/e510 and im having serious sound issues when running my sims game and don't know how to fix it.  I have the sigmatel and there are no updates for it, what should I do?  The sound is jumpy, and all over the place and the slightest thing I do in the game interrupts the sound.  I didn't have this problem before.

Please help

Are there sound issue/s when you use other programs (i.e. Windows Media Player, Quicktime, etc)?  If its just Sims that is have the audio issue you may have to contact the Sims manufacturer to have some to the applications setting adjusted.

A possible suspect would be that your PC's system resources (CPU or more likely RAM) are maxed out - audio is one of the first things to suffer if you're low on either one.

Does it work any better if you close out everything else you've got running before running the game?  Or, do you remember installing or running anything new around the time the problem started?
