Start Up problems

Question

hi.

i own a dimension 4600, p4 at 2.6ghz with ht technology that was purchased on december 27, 2003.

there have been a few times, including this morning, when i powered the computer on and the start up procedure never completed or was incredibley slow. and i do mean incredibly. i was wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Way too many possibilities on why this is happening. Do you get any error messages? Did it start after loading a particular software? Do you have McAfee and Norton Antivirus both on your computer?

hi.

i don't get anything on my monitor. i'm thinking the problem has to do with my video drivers. the flashing power light on my monitor tells me there is no signal reaching it. i confirmed this with another monitor.

my video drivers are up to date. at least i think they are. did i need to do something to my bios when i installed my video card? i thought i did. or was that when i installed my sound card? i bought my computer with no video card installed.

again, any thoughts you may have on this problem are greatly appreciated!

What are the Diagnostic LEDs on the back of the tower indicating.  THey tell if the system finished the power on Self Test (POST)

i didn't know there were diagnostic LED lights on the back of the tower. what should i be looking for?
