hi
I have a new dell dimension 2400 but have to start up 2 times every day before it runs??
the first time the lights on the key board only light up once and then nothing. When i shut it down and start it up again the lights on the keyboard light up 2 times and after that the numlock stays on and the system is running.
How can i repair this?

Do you get a one beep post (success) from the bios on the first attempt?
Is it providing any messages on the screen from the bios that may help with where it hangs up?
With limited input I have to guess your power up sequence is some how involved. You may not be getting something powered up that is required, in time .
Possibly the second time everything is available ands things proceed normally.

Press F2 to enter setup at the Dell screen
Scroll down to system event log, press enter
select view log, press enter

To get into the system setup program, press the F2 immediately after you start the computer. Whatch the keyboard. As soon as the keyboard lights come on, press the F2 key.
