Strange extra ram chips?

Question

Yesterday evening, i was cleaning the dust out of my 8200 from the inside when i noticed a pair of chips that look suspiciously like RAM chips, sitting right beside my rdram chips. They don't have the same metal plating as my rdram chips and have no text on them which suggests what they might be......are they buffers? are they extra ram chips installed by accident at the dell shop? Any ideas as to what they might be, however ludicrous :P, are welcome

Those are called CRIMMS and are required to be installed in RIMM slots that are not populated with RAM.  Example: If you have 256 MB of RDRAM and 4 slots, you would have 128 MB in each of the first two slots and CRIMMS in the second set to complete the circuit.  They're called continuity RIMMS.  You haven't been ripped off.
