Strange noise

My system (XPS T800r) was making a strange whirly noise during boot up and then would go away. Did not seem to be coming from my HD. Now the noise is pretty consistent. I opened the case expecting the noise to be coming from the fan. I moved the fan around, but it made no difference. The noise appears to be coming from the metal box above the fan which I assume is the power supply. If I hit the back top of the tower case (just above the power supply), the noise stops and then restarts. Noise sounds like something spinning up. My tag number is 4IT5J. Any ideas?

Did you see lotsa dust in your computer? Some on the power supply fan? Might have made your fan out of balance. Blow it out with an air can and vacuum VERY carefully inside your tower box (with the power off and plug pulled of course).
