Studio Hybrid error 11 atapi
Hallo
I have a Studio Hybrid 140, and frequently it freezes and hangs for several seconds.
In event log i see meny "error 11, source atapi, The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort1"
I replaced HD, and reinstalled the O.S. (win 7), and also I removed the cd/dvd rom, but errors still occur.
Any suggestion?
Thank you!

Hi Fabio,
The issue can occur due to hardware failure as well. Please run the hardware diagnostics to confirm the hardware functionality. Here are the steps:
Please share the results.

Hi Saharsh
I ran the Diagnostic as you suggested, but there was no error nor warning, and the end message was: "pre-boot system assessment complete. no diagnostic utility partition identified."
I also ran the on-line diagnostic, by Dell site, with "full option", and also in this case there was no error.
Can I check something else?

Hi Fabio,
You may try re-installing ATA channels 0 and 1. Here are the steps:
If this doesn't work, then it appears to be an issue with the SATA connectors on the motherboard. You may consider replacing it.
Please reply with the findings.

Hi Saharsh
I did what you wrote, but there are still hangs and errors in event logs...
so, my only choice is to change the motherboard, isn't it? Or can I do something else, before?

Hi Fabio,
Thank you for sharing the results. It indicates a hardware failure.
However, I will recommend you to update the BIOS once and observe system performance before you replace the motherboard. Here are the steps:
Also, please check the 'Reliability Monitor' to check if it is pointing out towards any other point of failure. Here are the steps:
In the Reliability Monitor, you can:

Hi Fabio,
Thank you for sharing the information. I have done some more research on this issue.
The hard drive on this system gets connected to the green port on the cage assembly (shown in image below). Please remove and reseat the hard drive firmly on the cage and then connect the cage assembly to the motherboard firmly.
If the issue still persist, please consider replacing the cage assembly first and then the motherboard.
Please reply if you have any further questions.
