Studio Slim 540 will not complete POST
My 4 year old Studio Slim 540 went to sleep yesterday and wouldn't wake up by moving mouse or typing on keyboard. So I power machine off. Now it will not complete POST. I get one long beep and then 3 short beeps. The F2 or F12 key is not responsive. I've removed and reseated all cards except video card and removed and reseated memory modules. Machine will not complete POST. Do I have a bad motherboard?

Hi wschleic,
I appreciate that you have tried few steps to fix the issue on your own. The beep pattern that you have mentioned indicates a Chipset error/motherboard failure. You could call the spares team on 1-800-999-3355 (US only) in case if the system is out of warranty. Please let me know if you belong to a different region.

Sometimes, a failing power supply will cause such symptoms.
OEM 540s motherboards are available on eBay, but a third-party Socket LGA775 board should fit as well. The power supply is standard TFX form factor, and a variety of bolt-in third-party replacements are available.
