Maybe you need to reboot before you can remove it? You don't say which operating system that you're using, but perhaps you can also try to boot into safe mode and delete it from there if simple rebooting won't work.

I'm using Windows 98 SE.
This folder has been "stuck" there for a few months already.
Ordinary delete doesn't work and clicking on it gives no response.
I've not tried rebooting in safe mode yet.
Any other solutions?
Thanks.

Hi,

As Namek says, boot with a Windows 98 SE system disk and then use DELTREE to get rid of it.

Create the system disk in Control Panel and ensure that the command Deltree is on the disk. Copy it from C:\Windows\Command to the floppy disk if it is not on the system disk.

Boot to the disk and then use the command Deltree c:\full path to McAFee. If the folder name is over 8 characters you will need to use the Tilde mark ~ and a number. Deltree C:\program~1\McAfee~1. This would be the path the C:\Program Files\McAfee Safe and Sound. You will need to be careful if you have any other McAfee software on the machine in C:\Program Files\ and ensure with a DIR command that you are deleting the correct folder.

I would also check the McAfee web site to see if there are any specific additional removal tools to clear this off your hard drive.
