Temps from SpeedFan software

Question

Inspiron 530, Q8200. SpeedFan shows CORE0-CORE3 temps as sensible - 36C to 44C, maybe as high as 53C if I run stress test PRIME95 with four tasks.

However, SpeedFan shows TEMP1=85C (with a little graphic of a flame). What does SpeedFan measure for TEMP1? Is something going to catch fire?

My graphics card has a fan and a monitor program. It shows card temp about 40C most of time. Web search has inconclusive answers for 530 + Speedfan + Temp1.

So I am still not sure what Temp1 is, but 85C sounds pretty high for anything in the case.

The flame icon on my Speedfan is for the GPU (Graphics) and it shows 54C.  My Q6600 temps are all around 40C

db2ericp, As with any 3rd party Hardware Monitoring software on Dell OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hardware, results are unpredictable.

Hey hbk123,

What I remember from previous posts here and elswhere (Rampant Speculation) is that some of the hardware monitoring software used to not be compliant with 64 bit OS and I think I remember that SpeedFan (some versions) were not able to deal with Intel Quad core PSU. The XPS 730's have ESA compliant systems where none of the X58 MOBO (ie: XPS 730X) have ESA ability.

So on my XPS 730 H2C and 630i I am running PCWizard 2008 which is able to read Intel Quad Core and is ESA compliant.

I read where you are getting a replacement system, hope it goes well.
