unknown device in windows 98

well, first off.. is there anything you've installed that isn't working properly, such as printer, scanner, and so forth? if so, try installing it correctly... but if there isn't dont delete it just yet...get back with me or with others to resolve this problem..im sure its prolly nothing.

Go into Device Manager and check which item has a ! or ? in yellow in front of it. Post back with info.

There is a yellow ? and on top of that a yellow !.

I am trying to install a Promise Ultra ATA/100 controller which is not being recognized by my computer (the subject of another forum), but when I insert the installation containing the drivers my computer tells me the drivers for the unknown devise are not on the disk. My printers, scanner and other devices are working properly.

"Unknown device" is listed next to the ?!.
