I have a dimension 4100 running windows 98se with a bios of a04. Should i upgrade the bios to a newer version and what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so.

There are risks involved in flashing a BIOS. If you are on a UPS, these risks are somewhat reduced (the whole process takes less than 30 seconds.)

Take a look at the BIOS changes and see if any affect you. You may be having some problems which you cannot diagnose.

If the BIOS changes do not affect you, there is probably no reason to change it.

I personally like to keep my BIOS reasonably current. I have never fried a mother board.

Hi

Never flash the BIOS unless you have to.
My two cents.
