upgrading video card

You can use a Radeon x850pro, but it's a poor performer for that price range. A Radeon x800XT is more powerful and costs about the same, a Geforce 6800GT is better still and is still roughly the same range. (You can use any of those cards in your system.)

He can use up to a Geforce 6800GT with that power supply. (I assume it's the standard 250 watt PSU, but I'm too lazy to check right now.) :D

What's your budget and what are you trying to play?

You are going to need a PSU upgrade if you are using those powerful cards. I recommend a X800XL/6800GT. I like the nVidia cards only because of Pixel Shader 3.

I installed my ati ati radeon x800xt 2 days ago on my dimension 8300 (250watt psu), and its running greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. But just to be sure im gonna put in a 400 watt psu.
