Video Card for E520

Hi

I just got a video card (HIS ATI Radeon X1650 Pro ICEQ Turbo 256MB). Tried to plug it into the PCI Express slot on my Dell E520, but it's too big and the fan on the card wont go past the CPU casing.

Anyone recommend a similar spec card that will fit in a E520?

Thanks

Three cards below that will fit.  You now understand that you needed a single slot card and the those wide ones.

7600 GT is better, faster and will work with your stock power supply.  Check the link at the bottom for comparison on one game between the 7600 GT and the X1650 Pro card if you want a better card

The power source for the E520 is rated 305 watts - the 7600GT demands more (as doe sthe 6600GT).  I have heard that the 305 watt is a 'conservative' number.  Your experience is that it runs fine?

I am planning to get a new 520 and plan to start with a better card - was initially thinking of the 6600GT to keep control of costs.   Your thoughts on the gain with the 7600GT?

thanks -

A 7600GT is kind of the low end of the mid range cards if that makes sense. A 6600GT would probably be fine for Aero Glass, but a 7600GT should be your absolute minimum if you want anything higher-end (ie games).

That's a good card (aside from the price comparison to the 8800...) but personally I'd wait until the 8600 line comes out in the next couple of weeks to see how that compares.

ive had some folks show me some data on that new card. it seems its going to be less power in it than was originally thought. also only 256MB flavor.. nothing over that it seems. perhaps after launch they will release a higher MB card and better specs. i would have no problem waiting but since i just ordered this computer which should be here tomorrow, i need something now.

Remember that the amount of RAM on a card doesn't make much difference. A higher end card will always outperform a lower end card with more RAM.

I would expect a higher end card to outperform a lower end card as well! i had no idea thiese cards can cost upwards of 700 bux!! insane!!

thanks for your input but i wont get a card much higher than what i have now since, as you stated, video editing wont utilize much of it anyway... ;-)
