Video Card Specs

Apparently I am in need of a new Video Card.  I have the factory installed ATI Radeon 3450 - DDR2 512MB PCI-e that came in my Dell XPS 420.  My XPS has 8Gb ram, Intel Q8200 Quad Core, 2.3 Ghz processor and Im running Win7 64.  My question is do I have to stick with DDR2 Memory type or do I have options?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Rick,

Your are not restricted to DDR2 graphics memory. The only thing to check is that your power supply is up to the task.

Yes, the XPS420 does not use a Dell proprietary power supply, you can use most standard ATX power supplies with either, a 24-pin or 20+4-pin, main motherboard power connector.

Because the XPS420 have an open back panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used, you should be able to buy a replacement from most local and online computer stores.

Note: You need a power supply, with five SATA power connectors.

Many thanks for your reply!!  Since I have you, can I assume I can upgrade my PS without conflicts?
