Vostro 430 max memory

Hi there,

Our current Vostro 420 runs 16 GB of RAM. I would like to know what is the computer RAM limit as I'm interested in putting in 32 GB, possible?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Romu,

Thank you for your quick response. Vostro 430 is sent with: Intel P55 Express Chipset and Intel H57 Express Chipset. Dell recommends using the maximum memory of 16 GB on your computer, which is ideally tested by the product support group. However, if you install more than the recommended memory, you may face system instability issues.

Please reply in case you have further questions.

Hi Romu,

Your computer Vostro 430 supports maximum memory of 16 GB with following specifications: DDR3 SDRAM , Speed : 1066MHz, 1333MHz (non–ECC memory only).

Vostro 420 supports maximum memory of 4 GB with following specifications: DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM (DDR2 667 MHz capable).

Please reply in case you have further questions.

Ok thanks, this is the "official" Vostro 430 specs. My question is more: is this a chipset limit? Or can I run more than 16 GB by just using more than 4 GB memory module?
