Vostro won't start!
I have a Vostro 220. Yesterday, there was a forecast for thunderstorms, so I unplugged the computer. Later, after the storm was over, I plugged it back in. But, when I pressed the start button, nothing happened. I checked the power supply and it is definitely getting power (the light in the back is lit).
Any suggestions?

Hi catsklgd1,
You may try draining the residual power from the system by following steps below and see if it helps :
If the issue persists, please share the status of power button light. Will take it further.

I did as you said, but it didn't work. The power button light (in the rear) was green. After I drained the residual power, the light went out. Then, once I plugged the power back in, the light turned green again.

P.S. I assumed that I was to unplug the power cord to drain the residual power, right?

Hi catsklgd1,
Yes, the power plug needs to be disconnected before draining residual power. I was referring to light on Power button that is used to power the system on.
If the system is not powering on, Although the power supply have light, the issue might be with system board. To confirm that, you may try connecting an alternate power supply, if possible, and see if that helps.
If the system is under warranty, please share the Service Tag and name on account via private message (click on my name and click Start Conversation). Will look into the details and determine further course of action.
If the system is out of warranty, you may contact Spare parts sales at 1-800-357-3355 and purchase the required parts. You may install the parts on your own, if comfortable, referring to Service Manual Here. Otherwise, you may contact a local technician for replacing the parts.
Note : Please follow the safety instructions given in manual before replacing parts.
Hope this helps.
