VRM for Precision 220
I've been getting confliciting info regarding dual processors on the Precision 200. Do I need a VRM for dual processors? And if so, does anyone know the part number? I can't locate it on the site.

Searching back through this forum you'll find both dell part # 11GEF and 7649D. These are supposedly the same.
I picked up a used11GEF from ebay last week for about $21 shipped -- it's working fine in my 220.

Can someone from Dell confirm this?? I believe you Cardinal, I would just love to see some confirmation. I called Dell just last week and the wait for the 7649D part is FIVE MONTHS.
You'd think they would tell you "go ahead and use this otehr part" rather than make the customer wait. This is starting to feel like I'm dealing with yet-another Apple hardware deadend, which is why I'd never purchase one of their products again.

I'm not too thrilled with Dell sales right now. I placed two orders for the VRM and received an APC Voltage regulator unit ( small white box resembling a UPS ) the first time and a Slot 1 terminator card the second. Hopefully, third phone call will be the charm...
