What is the difference between Dimension levels?

Hello,

I just recently signed up to this forum, and I wish to ask a question or two. Recently, I am looking to purchase a PC either through dell, or build my own, not completly sure yet. Maybe with some clerification....I will finally be able to make a choice.

First of all, I can click on the dimension 4700 Desktop, click on the hardware I wish to have on, and I can click the EXACT same hardware for the 8200, but it costs like twice as much....What makes the higher dimension number so much more expensive?

Also, would I be able to fit a ATI Radeon 9600XT or ATI radeon 9800 pro video card into a Dell PC?

Please, if you can find time to help me out, I would really appreciate it, I really need some clerification.

Thanks again,

Puppensud

The 8400 chassis is more expandable than the 4700 chassis, and the board has an extra PCI slot.  There are some other differences as well - 8400/XPS systems are high-end;  the 4700 is a mid-range system.

Not on a 4700 or 8400 system, both of which use the newer PCI express video, not AGP.  Yes, on an 8300 or 4600 system, the predecessor models that have AGP slots.
