What will I get?
My new dimension 4600 is extremely noisy and I am thinking to return the system and get new one from Dell (exchange one). The 4600 is still within 30 days. If I ask for an exchange, What will I get, a new one or refurbish one?

Getting a system exchange is a cumbersome process & can have several disadvantages. Dell tends to reserve exchanging the system for systems that they have not been able to fix after a reasonable effort has been taken to repair the system.
You loose all your data.
It takes 10 days to 2 weeks from the time the replacement is ordered.
Warranty issues can arise if you fail to return the old system promptly. (they transfer the remaning warranty after they get the old system back)
But, the main thing is what ddeerrf, call tech support (Even Email them if ya wanna) Ya got a noisy fan, they'll replace it, no ache, Next Business Day, (Calls after 5 PM Central, will be 2nd Business day) Ya got a warranty, use it.

I agree...I exchanged a 4300 few years ago and when I called tech support I was told there was no warranty. Apparently in the switch the warranty didn't get transfered over. I ended up on hold for however long talking to people to figure out why it was showing as expired when the system was 3 weeks old.
If it's ONE fan I say have them replace it. If it's a big problem, get a new one.
