windows Update & 8800GTX driver

Windows vista update has an optional Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX driver dated 12/10/2007  Download size 51.5 MB , should i install this windows vista update or leave my latest Nvidia {from Nvidia } driver  as it is? the nvidia driver on my machine is 169.25

I agree with cademetz, stick with the Nvidia drivers.

By any chance, did you use the Beta drivers before 169.25 was released? If so, it is possible that your drivers don't have the 'WHQL' seal of approval and why Windows Update is showing a 'new' driver.
 
I personally wouldn't use video card drivers from WU.

I used the Microsoft update for the 8800GTX drivers replacing the
169.25 beta from nVIDEA and have not had the infrequent hangups
when gaming since. I think they are more stable than the beta version
.

I also get them from the Nvidia site, and I also use beta drivers.
 
Before installing them however I look how happy everyone is with them.
 
Unfortunately there is a lot of improvement to be done in this area so it pays off to have the latest if you want the max out of your games (and you do with the XPS series)

                The drivers in WU are from nvidia, they are just packaged in WU
