Wireless Kybd and Mouse

Question

I have been asked to work on a friends Dimension 4550 (xp sp2) (latest BIOS). They just bought a Dell wireless kybd and mouse. THough logged in as an admin, the USB receiver is not recognized in device manager.   Attempting to install drivers (both downloaded and CD that came with kybd) the XP install says that one should choose open. That is not an option. Choosing Run or Save As reults in driver not installing. I do not see and inf file on CD or download.   How does one install the driver to get the USB receiver to be recognized

You shouldn't have to download/install the driver manually. Check the usb port to make sure it has power.

It has power and recognizes the IR receiver being there. There does not seem to be an inf file for the installation
