Word Pad

This might be better in the Windows forum.

What do you normally use to read email? I suspect that program is missing something (i.e. the Graphics Conversion filter.) Maybe you install that option (again).

That sounds odd ... Let me ask this: When you try to open the attachment, what is the program you are working in?

I wasn't working on any program.  I was just trying to open an attachment that someone sent to me that showed a seating chart.  Could it be that they sent it on the wrong program?

To tell you the truth, I think I use to use the Adobie,is that how you say it?

What is the IE program that you said comes with windows?

Hi Peter, I recieved an email from the same person and it also had an attachment and I clicked on it and Word Pad opened it okay.  Do you think that the attachment that wouldn't open had to do with the program that they sent it on?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with your email program.

It should not matter what program they use to send the email. What matters is the program that created the file that is being attached. Normally your email program will tell you the file name (e.g. foo.jpg indicating it is a type jpg file).

If you could open this type of attachment before, you might need to reinstall your email program (or modify the install to add the converter needed) or maybe it is an attachment that is not compatible with any program you have.

If Word Pad can open it, it must be pretty basic. I don't think Word Pad can open graphics which it sounds like the first attachment was.

What program opens graphics?

IE can open some. It comes with Windows so it is convenient and the default for some image/graphics types.

There are a variety of other graphics programs. One thing to consider is that if the attachment is something very specific to a single program (e.g. my home architect program has it's own format), you may need that specific program to open it.

If you tell me the file type, I could be more specific. But I still don't know what we are really talking about.
