Of course we know that much already.  Still, I think this is a Good move by Dell to offer something to the customer after the sale.  This is a very nice direction Dell is heading.  It makes me wish I still had my XPS.  Chris, what are the prices and are they only in black or are they in silver too?

The one for the XPS (non-H2C) is silver.  It's currently an option on the air-cooled 720 and they even have a picture of it.

I suppose this means XPS720 is end of life, Dell trying to clear out excess inventory.

XPS730 must be around the corner ;)

Peace

Guys, here's some speculating for you.
Notice the concave in the side panel, now notice the way it's just in the front 2 0r 3 inches, just like the preview 730 cases look!!!
Can it be they are using the 720 case with different motherboard tray and back panel for the location of the rear i/o panel????
That would truely be awesome!!!! I'd have this motherboard changed to an atx as soon as the parts were available!!!

And the preview 730, this is the same case guys!!!

JD,

I have no doubt that this is built on the same chassis as the 720.  I would assume a new mobo tray and rear panel would be essential.  You might need a new PSU, and front I/O panel as well.  I am sure you could use retail PSU and mobo and get creative with the front panel.  I am sure you can find something in retail for the power switch and I/O ports.  Man, I wish I still had my 700 case.  I would LOVE to build a retail ATX system with custom watercooling in the XPS chassis.

  PG,

Thats just what I'd like to do. This ATX factor opens up all those avenues. I was gonna blow these things out when the 630 was introduced, but I'm sure glad I didn't. I did finally pick up an all black case on ebay with a 1k power supply, so I'll switch the guts of this one into that for now.

Can anyone verify the price for the black UK XPS 720 H2C clear side panel please?

It was about £200-£400 or something daft when I bought my PC in january not long ago which I definately wasn't going to pay just for a side panel, was a good job as well considering the issues I've had with the comp, (it not liking its own memory that came factory installed) so if theyre still around that price then its just as much of a ripoff.

However if theyre now reduced in price to something more reasonable such as £100 at max then I may consider.

On hold again, comes back on line, no such part....These people are clueless. I want this side cover....I need help......or rather, Dell parts need help!!!!

*Still laughing away.

"Customer support" seriously just shouldn't even bother existing tbh, I can imagine your fustration, I'd be steaming or just staring at the phone in disbelief lol, as ya said that really was pathetic.

I wouldn't bother trying again today, try tomorrow or another day when you might actually get someone helpful on the other end of the line, small hope though. :(

Hopefully Chris or someone will post a lil more information such as the price of these which is the main important point, as I doubt anyone will be interested if theyre still stupidly priced. Also some advice on how to get someone on the other end of the phone that actually has a positive braincell count that speaks and understands English (rare!) would be useful too.

They were like 250 on the computer option list.

Maybe if I wait an hour, they'll be out feeding the camels, and I will get someone who understands what I want,,,,maybe???

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at "Whats wrong with your monitor"

Just.....oh my god.....sort yourselves out Dell!

Seriously the amount of reports I've heard about things like this is absolutely unbelievable, I remember one guy mentioning he phones to report a bluescreen error, and they asked him if the monitor was plugged in......

*Can't stop laughing.

Has anyone else from the UK actually had any success in at least getting the price for these side panels out of them? Small hope I know but still..
