XPS 400 and WoW problems

I'm having trouble with World of Warcraft running on my XPS 400 that I received back in September. I frequently receive these error when I am playing. The frequency of these crashes can be anywhere from 15 minutes of play to 6 hours of play. It's completely random:

This application has encountered a critical error:
ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:4FE1E8D9

Blizzard's tech support seems to feel it's some kind of hardware or drivers issue. I've ran the Microsoft RAM tester and my chips were fine even on extended scan. I updated my SB X-Fi drivers from the Creative website. I downloaded the GeForce 7300 LE 82.68 drivers from the Dell support website and still have the problem, and downloaded the 93.71 drivers from the NVIDIA website and still have the problem(and the 93.71 drivers also give me a blue screen in the game and locking up my whole system, saying something about my nv4_disp driver is producing an infinite loop and it says STOP: 0x000000EA).

So basically I want to know if anyone else had success running World of Warcraft flawlessly on their XP 400 and what they had to do to get there! The game has done this since the day I started playing it so it's not like some piece of hardware has "gone bad" in my opinion, it's probably driver or software related somehow. Do I need to download all my drivers from the Dell support website or is it fine just getting them from the company that made the product? My biggest problem with the Dell drivers is that there is no "autodetect" and I have to select from a list what hardware I have even after entering my service tag. I didn't install it so I don't know! For instance, after you enter the service code it asks you for your operating system. Well I have Windows XP Media Center Edition and it lists Windows Xp and Windows XP x64 on there so I have no idea which one it is(I've just been picking XP). Then I get to the Audio Drivers and it lists " Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic (D)" ... well I know I have a SB X-Fi but I have no idea if it's that. Then you go down to the nVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE video drivers and the ones they have listed there are 82.68 but as mentioned above the most current ones from NVIDIA are 93.71. Are these not posted due to compatibility issues with DELL PCs or has it just been overlooked on accident? Oh but there's more fun! I also see a " Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility" that says URGENT but I have no idea again if it applies to me. It's Chip Set: Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility v.7.2.2.1006 but how do I know if I already have this? the date listed is 1/20/2006 and I recieved my PC in September.

LASTLY, and this may even be my the solution to my problem, the BIOS. There's a flashbios update listed for BIOS: Dell Dimension System BIOS, English, Dimension DXP051, A07 that was released on 1/16/2007 but I'm afraid to screw up my computer doing this. Is there need for concern? Also, Blizzard Tech Support saw this IRQ configuration and thought there might be some conflicts causing problems due to IRQ sharing of the sound card and video card. However I see no conflicts in the device manager and this was shipped to me from Dell with these all sharing IRQ 16:

IRQ 16 Intel(R) 945G/GZ/P/PL PCI Express Root Port - 2771
IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27D0
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 82801GR/GH/GHM (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Root Port - 27E0
IRQ 16 Creative SB X-Fi

its funny reading all about windows Vista and all the problems of people having system crashes etc.... it puts me off upgrading Plus over here in the UK the software is for sale is £200 which I refuse to splash out. I also think a lot of software companies have no made their software ready for Vista. time will tell. incidentially Nvida I have read that a lot of their drivers are not Vista ready. this could be the problem.

no that's not the problem. I said I have XP Media Center Edition. I wish it were that simple!

7300LE is a lousy card to have..  Get rid of it and get a better gaming card.  Many complaints on this one card, that shares your main memory, leaving you with even less....

I use my PC almost excusivly for WoW play and have never had a single issue or problem...system is set up as follows Pentium D 3.4ghz Geforce 7800GS 2 gig RAM 2 150GB HD running in RAID(1) Windows XP Media Center All drivers are current and updated, using Motherboard Audio as never seen a reason to go better for just WoW. As far as driver and Dell updates go you should go w/the BIOS updrage and any other "recommended" updates, but many on the Dell support sight are for specific issues or are optional. A quick read-through of the update should tell you if you really need it or not. You might also try some part-swapping. New RAM or a Video Card might take care of the issue. I upgraded my 7300 to a 7800 and I am very happy with it.

I also have the XPS400 w/an upgraded chip.  Definatelly download and use the audio drivers from Creative website and the video drivers from Nvida.  I was having a similiar problem until I read the small print on the installation instruction(I hate it when that happens!).  Seems like you have to UNINSTALL the old drivers prior to installing the updated ones. Once I did that, my problems vanished.  WOW runs without problems. along with the rest of my stuff.

Same problem, figured out what it is though... just trying to figure out how to resolve it.

I had absolutely no problems with WoW until I updated my BIOS from DXP051 A04 to A05 in January. I tried to update to A07 to resolve it and still get the 132. I keep my crash logs and noted that I first started crashing WoW for 132's on Jan 11th, and that was the same day I installed the BIOS update.

I want to back down to A04 to test this out, but unfortunately cannot find it on the official Dell software section. Waiting in Queue to talk to a rep now, tell you how it goes hopefully.
