I think where all every interested and excited to see what will be done and how GB got on. If anything I hope GB got what he deserves...

How did mensrea get a CAS of 4? I didn't think that was possible with this BIOS.

wow...Chris M said GB got to meet with the top dog....says a lot about him.....how many of us wouldn't jump at that chance....
 
Have a feeling that he will have some interesting info to post....and we are all waiting on the edge of our seats for it.....

I'm thinking that, regardless of the ultimate outcome, GB should feel extremely proud of himself. I am astonished at what he has accomplished.

I'm really anxious to hear what GB has to say about his meeting.  I sent an email to michael and got a message to call a rep who wanted to talk about my concerns.  I've missed the call every time.  The rep has talked to my husband several times, but the rep gets off work at 4:30 and so do I.  I think I'll try to call tomorrow from work.  I'm tech challenged, so I hope I don't get the run around.  My main concerns are being able to upgrade if I want to, yesterday's technology at yesterday's prices and all this NEW stuff that's coming out.  I ordered in early July and got my system 2 months later.  Man . . . makes me wish I'd waited to get the quad.

Yeah, my max stable overclock was actually only 305mhz; it would start to BSOD after that. Maybe the later motherboard revisions are more stable, it would be nice to at least get the maximum overclock that dell allows.
Agreed: if you want to buy upgraded ram, make sure that it has spd settings for 667, to be safe, buy ram that a forum member has already tested, or buy it from a place where you can return it.

Run plenty of stress tests on this machine, and it is working flawlessly with the Ballistix ram......

Bah, posting from work. My XPS 700 has BSOD'ed again, for the fifth time since I've gotten it. I've had issues in the past with it, like the programs in "All Programs" wouldn't sort by name correctly upon a reformat, just to name one. All the issues I've had lead me to believe that I've been suffering from Software related issues. I called Dell today, ran some diagnostics with them, and they determined that (as well as I had assumed) my OS disc is faulty.
 
I ran three reformats today, each time the computer wasn't able to pull "xxxxxxx.sys" from the disc. I don't remember the specific file name, but it was the same file each time.
 
So, I'm without my XPS 700 until the OS disc arrives... I don't even know how long that's going to be.

Well, I'm not to excited about quad core just yet. Surely, Core 2 Duo has made a big impact as the processor isn't such a bottleneck for high-end video cards any more. Sure, Quad Core will be great when games implement the usage of Quad Core, and I'm not going to deny it's raw power and ability, but for the price at this point, it isn't worth it yet. Quad Core will be much more efficient in servers and mainframes, but in home... not yet.
 
I'm not telling you to not get it. I'm just saying to not get it just yet. Core 2 Duo will still reign for quite sometime.
