1-4-1 Beep Code (Video Card not working?)

Hello,

I'm getting a 1-4-1 beep code when my laptop starts up.  The video stopped working today for some reason and I wonder if the 1-4-1 corresponds with this.  If I hook an external monitor up to the laptop, the display has all kinds of artifacts, similar to an old malfunctioning NES game.

Can anyone point me to a support page that describes what the 1-4-1 code means?

Thanks!

Mike G.

Beep codes are usually either RAM or video failures - what pattern of flashing lights is showing on the power/caps lock/etc. button?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I can't do the test right now because it would annoy my co-workers, but when I powered on my laptop with the key pressed, I noticed that the LEDs were flashing in the following pattern:  Num Lock Solid On, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock flashing.

Let me know if I can give you any other information that is helpful.

That's a memory problem - reseat (remove and reinstall) the memory module(s).
