1150 questions ?

i 'm thinking anbout getting a 1150 with the following :p4 2.66ghz-15" xga- 256 ram-30gb-hd, 24X CD-RW/DVD .  my question is how will this play dvd's and run games ( like c&c generals, rollercoaster tycoon2) i'll probably upgrade the ram to 512 or higher a.s.a.p..   i really don't want to go over 1200 bucks for a laptop. cause i just bought a new dell desktop.

It is not well suited to gaming.  The video is poor at 3D (Intel integrated) and it is not upgradeable.

You would be better off considering the 5150, which likely will exceed your budget, but will be a much better video performer (and is upgradeable in a limited way, unlike the 1150).

i have the 1150 with a 2.4 celly and 256 ram and dont have any problems with playing games. yes the ati or navida would be better for higher resalutions. but for the price it works very well for gaming. i play splinter cell and medal of honor and it has no problems at all.

also would like to say you can get a brand new 5150 of ebay for 1100$. i bought my 1150 for 800$ and it was never opened and it has 1 year warranty. might want to check that out if you have 1200 to spend on a dell.

Guys, I need your suggestions.
I've just opened the box w/ new Inspiron 1150 and have a problem, perhaps w/ video or CPU.
It's hanging on 3-D screen savers, any of standard Win XP.
No other applications running. I don't think it's normal for the system w/ 256MB main and 64MB video memory.
I didn't try DVD or video streaming yet.

Very upsetting...
Any suggestions? To return it?

i have the 1150 and had it for about a month now and havnt had any problems with it. i messed with the screen saver when i first got it and no problems there even with picture slide show. i also have the 256 ram and 64m video. you might want to call dell and run the diags or just return it. if it hangs on screen saver then your gonna have more problems in the future.
