1330 - high temperature; CPU above 90°C; normal?

 Hey

I am using my 1330 now for a couple of month and everything is doing great (beside the high pitched noise :smileymad: ). But now I converted a video what took about 2 hours with a CPU usage between 90 and 100% what made my system to shut off twice. I think it is because of the high temperature; using I8kfan it shows me a CPU temperature above 90 degrees Celsius. Is this still normal? The fan is constantly running pretty high. Playing games the system also heats up, but never that high. Normally the CPU is running around 50°C; sometimes the chipset, GPU and CPU are rising up to 80 degrees, but it got never that high before.

What do you think I should do? I already installed all new updates and drivers.

Thank you for any advice.

My System:

xps 1330; 2.0 GHz; T2750; 3GB ram; GeForce 8400; Vista SP1; 6cell battery

I have been having a simillar issue with my M1710. After talking with Dells XPS support we agreed that the video card should be replaced. So now I wait for the tech to come back out. 50 to 60 should be in the normal range but 90 is way to hot. My was hitting 95C even after replacing both fans on my unit. I would recommend that you call Dell. Well, thats my two cents any ways.

thanks for your answer; but i think in my case it is more a problem of the CPU cooling. My video card did not heat up that much. But like you said, I will try and call Dell.

my wife's laptop has the exact same problem. i noticed it from day one. it's a few months old.  hers is just a basic 1330 w/intergrated graphics and lowest CPU. i thnk its a design flaw.  if u can buy the extended warranty and have dell keep on replacing the unit and the file litigation based a lemon law, if you can.

arent' there any more threads on this??

why aren't newest threads bumped up to the beginning of the forum?
