That error refers to your hard drive, which has failed.  You will need to report the error to Dell if the system is under warranty and they'll replace the drive.  If the system is out of warranty, you'll need a new, 7- or 9.5 mm SATA notebook hard drive to replace your faulty drive.

Before the hard drive completely expires, mount it in a 2.5" USB external case ($10-20).  Attach to a working system and see what you can still read - you may be able to retrieve at least some data.  If not, there is always data recovery - though that can cost a minimum of several hundred dollars (or even quite a bit more depending on the scope of the recovery job).

Is there anyway i can somehow retain any of my memory, work, pics, personal paperwork etc... or is everything lost
