1555 studio web cam driver non-funcionality issues

I installed xp on this pc not to long ago an i wanted to get the web cam up and running but when i try to install the driver it spits out this error " An error occurred while setting up the driver." then it tells me it actually did successfully install the drive. so then i hoped the latter was correct and install dell web cam central. It tells me it does not see the camera, neither does xp camera viewer. Even when i install a different web cam program it doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling everything-the driver and software and it doesn't work. I have though encountered an odd new hardware wizard install. Once when i started xp it popped up with the new hardware wizard simultaneously and neither time could it successfully install the driver, but it saw it for that brief moment which is where i am at now, perplexed and frustrated.Please help if you can i love my new dell minus this aggravation.
