4 minute Boot up Time

Question

Have an Inspiron 5150 that now takes 3.5 to 4 minutes to fully boot up. I've gone round and round with Dell and I've amassed an awful lot of Knowledge Documents. I have re-installed Windows XP and removed any programs that were not loaded when I purchased the laptop. Any thoughts on how to speed up boot time. Spyware and Virus scans have found nothing.

wow that really $ucks.  my 5150 takes about 18 seconds to boot up fully.  i cannot understand what could be wrong with your machine, especially since you say youve reinstalled windows xp (was it a CLEAN install from scratch?  did you format your hard drive NTFS?? its extremely important that you format your drive, and wipe your master boot record).  how fast did it boot up before this problem occured?  also what was the last thing you installed, or did, prior to this problem?  please give us details about your pc as well (processor, ram, etc).  hopefully we can help you out if we have more info. I take it you have all XP updates?

Check your BIOS - Boot Configuration - Boot POST should be set to minimal.

Also I add getting the chipset driver first (Downloads tab above) and then the rest of the drivers there also.

MAYBE YOUR MACHINE IS SO SLOW BECAUSE YOUR FONT SIZE IS SO HUGE?
