5150 ATi Problem DELL READ THIS

 I've had this problem many times I've tried everything re-installing windows, installing new drivers still doesnt work.

It always happens when I play counter strike or any other games.

Any one know how to fix this , its really pissing me off.

I got that effect when I changed to some drivers for my 5200. All I did was change drivers and it went away.  Your might even think about updating your BIOS.

Do you know what version you have installed on there right now? Because you have to upgrade to version A22 before  you can go any higher.

For some reason I cant upgrade BIOS due to this error.

Yes, before you can use the automatic bios updater, you have to update to a bios that supports it.  The A22 bios d/l will create a bootable cd rom.  Then you can run the bios updater to get A31.

A friend of mine had the same problem before on his 5150. I tried everything to fix it. When I called tech support, they informed me that the problem is that the video card gets thermally stressed or become too hot causing the corruption. When you turn it off and let it cool down, turn it on and everything works fine again. Eventually, card will again heat up and the video corruption would reappear. They told me that this only happens with a small percentage of the Inspiron 5150 systems with ATI M9 cards and their solution was to replace the video card. The next day, a tech came in and replaced the card and everything is working fine now
