600m and keyboard with stickpointer - does it work? is there a driver for it?

Hi, I have an Inspiron 600m and recently I replaced my old keyboard (part #1M722) with a new one that was claimed to be compatible with the 600m (part #1m745). I chose the 1M745 because it came with a touchstick, or stickpointer, the little eraser nub between the keys g, h and b. I connected it and all of the keys work, but the stickpointer does not work. I tried to install the driver for Alps Glidpoint/Stickpointer but it still does not recognize the stickpointer. Is there something else i have to do to get it to work? Or is the stickpointer just not compatible with my computer? Please help.
