700m microphone hard drive feedback
Every time the hard drive accesses, I get a horrible feedback noise through the speakers. This makes it impossible to have a conversation with someone because of the (more or less) constant buzzing. Anyone else experience this? Should I contact Dell about a hardware problem?
Thanks
Thanks

A friend of mine has a Latitude D800, and when I talk with her as she uses her internal microphone over Google Talk, it's better than a landline.
If it's any perverse consolation, rather than doing the microphone right (as really shouldn't be hard if you know the problems to avoid), they removed it entirely from EVERY new Dell notebook, including my supposedly high end, "multimedia powerhouse" Inspiron 9300. Nothing like buying a stripped-down luxury computer. :(
I notice no one in this thread talks about using a headset--should I understand that this is not (only) an internal microphone issue, but even a problem if you plug a microphone in??
Sorry that I'm offering just curiosity and commiseration here. :(

One wonders what's going on in Dell engineering, management, and quality control.... (Maybe nothing.)
Well I guess we do know how important Dell thinks voice is now. ("Don't worry, Mr. Dell. By FY2007, everyone will be using only text and telepathy. We actually help our customers by harming them--they'll never develop their formerly unnecessary telepathic abilities without this new line of notebooks.")
