700m's small screen and high resolution

Question

Question to the owners of 700m:

700m as 12.1' screen with a resolution of 1280x800. This means the font will be really small. Do you have problem reading the small fonts? Or is there a way to make the font bigger? A lot of programs don't use the Windows system font setting so the display will get messed up with large (100 or larger) setting.

i have the 700m and in i have no problems w/ the resolution. the font sizes can also be changed within display properties>appearance tab to a large font. dont change the dpi, which can just be more of a headache.

the default font size and default resolution have the same look and feel my 17in NEC LCD at 1280x1024 w/ large fonts enabled.

Its not a problem for me. Worst case scenario you can make the screen size larger if you want to.

The appearance setting works most of time. However, what about broswer setting? These days the page will come with a style sheet that specify the font and its size. For example, change the "Text Size" setting has no effect on this message board. Is there any way to change it?

the keyboard is not that big of a problem, i actually think it has made me a better/more effecient typist.

the high reflectivity doesnt bother me at all.

in fact i would only buy a laptop or lcd that has the "acrylic" coating featured on the 700m. my desktop lcd is a NEC 1765, which is one of the few lcd monitors that has the high glare coating. i think that it really helps improve the contrast and clarity over the traditional matte finishes.

also, i use the 700m in class all the time and the reflection of the lights on the ceiling is more than with the matte finish, but then all i have to do is turn up the brightness or move the lcd an inch in any direction.

remember the 9300 is a big rig, if your into portability, i strongly suggest the 700m.

StuBeck and Accurate81, I was looking at a 700m yesterday and I think I really like the "truelife" display....the salesperson at the Dell store said he doesn't like them because of the reflection... has this been a problem for you? I've noticed (I think I'm right on this) that the 700m and maybe the newest XPS are the only ones so far that offer the "truelife" display...( I did see the 9300 on the UK site offers it) ...to me it looks so clear and good and I'm thinking of waiting until the 9300 is available here....I want something larger than the 700m.... anyway I just wanted some input from someone who would know...

thanks for that info..I really think I may wait for the 9300...yes, I know it's big...but this is truly a desktop replacement for me...I rarely move it around...actually the 9200 I looked at yesterday weighs a little less than my 8200...and I have packed it around some..not as in classes like you but to work some or if I am going on vacation and can't live with out it... if I was carrying it around the 700m would be the one for me also....it's just so cute!!
