8600 power problem

i have had aproblem with my 8600 notebook , the notebook can;t be turned on with the notebook battery installed , u have to take out the battery and use the a/c power adapter to be ur power sauce. I thought my old battery die (about 1 year old) so i bought a new battery and try it , same thing happened . So any other 8600 owner / user have had this problem and know what's causing this ?

I'm having the same problem with my Inspiron 6000.  One four month old battery, one brand new battery--straight from Dell.  Same result.  I'm mystified...

Could be a connection from the battery to the motherboard that is shorting out or something.... Have you run the Dell Diag?

Can't run any diagnostics on the 6000 with the battery installed---no POST if the battery and AC Ad are installed, no nothin' if the battery alone is installed.
