AC Adapter Not Recognized

I have an Inspiron 5547 and whenever I plug in the adapter to my laptop, I get the error message "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge." I'm using the adapter that came with my computer and the light is on. When I plug in the adapter, it will charge for a few seconds until the Power Manager Lite popup appears, after which it stops. According to Power Manager Lite, my battery health is excellent. It's obviously still capable of charging, as it only stops after the popup. I've already tried installing new drivers and updating the BIOS. Is there a solution to this problem?

If the AC adapter is not correctly recognized, the battery will not charge.  Try a new OEM Dell adapter first - if that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack:

And if that doesn't get the adapter recognized, the charge circuit on the mainboard is at fault - unfortunately, it means the mainboard will need to be replaced.
