Ac Power Adapter Compatability

Question

Hi,
I have a new i6000 and it came with a power adapter that, although it looks very similar to the power adapter that came with my i1150, it is a different size, and looking at the detailed information on the back, they have slightly different amplitudes, 4.62A and 3.34A. Does anyone know if they are compatable or not? They both have the same size plug, the same Voltage, and both are DC. If they aren't compatable, I really wonder about what Dell was thinking making them the same size

It should be safe to use the 4.62 amp unit in place of the 3.34 (the system will draw only as much current as it needs). The reverse is not true - you should not use a lower capacity supply on a system needing more current.

That's odd, I would have figured the opposite, but thinking about it it kind of makes sense. Wouldn't want to give a computer too little juice. Thanks
