after new battery

I have an Inspiron 6000 and just got my new battery about a week ago.  Now I am having a new problem.  When I plug the power cord in the light is green on the cord for about three seconds and then it goes off.  I can't charge my battery now and the AC is giving the laptop any power.  It was powering up before the battery died.  I have tried multiple plugs.  I know the outlets work but I am not sure why the cord is green and the turns off.  What is wrong?  I have my school paper on the computer and need this issue resolved quickly.  Thanks.  I am really wishing I never got the new battery.

Have you tried it with the old battery in?  Where did you buy the battery?

I had one of those recall batteries so I had to return the old battery back to dell after they sent me the new battery.  I got the new one just from the dell website recall webpage.

I am having the same issues. I never had power management problems before but since the day I got this new battery my laptop will not make a good connection. This is very frustrating. Of course, with all of the other dell issues it doesn't suprise me. And when I call for help, I'm getting a call center in India where no one can help me.

If anyone knows of a contact that can do something or wants to present a for these issues, please contact me. I'll be glad to pitch in. My next laptop is a Mac!

Getting a new battery did not break your AC adapter. Much more likely that the problem had been coming for a while and showed up now.

Lots of posts about AC adapter problems. If you still got warranty, call Dell. If not then search the forum for suggestions on who may be able to fix it, or buy a new motherboard.

Sorry to hear you have problems, but the troubleshooting is pretty simple.
