Alienware M18x R2 recon3d not working correctly

Hi,

I have audio. I dont get to choose mic or headphone when I insert headphone and the audio continues to go to speakers (and headphones). I have no recon3d app in tooltray. I can't uninstall recon3d from control panel as its not listed. I cant uninstall it from device manager either. It lets me (including ticking remove driver box) but after reboot its back. I can't download any drivers from dell as it says mine are up to date. Please!!! I want to download all drivers for my laptop. Surely that is my right.

Help!!

Cheers

If you had previously downloaded multiple versions of the driver, even if you did it over a long time span, when you delete the current version from the hard driver, when you reboot Windows installs the next oldest version. So you have to keep uninstalling the driver (and tick "remove the driver software for this device") and rebooting until Windows installs the native audio driver, which will appear in Device Manager as "High Definition Audio Device."

I can't download any drivers from dell as it says mine are up to date.

You should be able to download any driver you want. Go to the Alienware M18xR2 html page and download from there. Be sure to select only drivers that are compatible with your operating system. Only Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 are supported ("WB64" means Windows 8.1). If you try to install an older version of a driver be sure to remove the newer one beforehand.
