Ambient Light Sensor Max Settings
Hello,
I have an E6410 laptop. Some time the last year, i always had my ambient light sensor turned off, and the backlight display at a constant bright level, where i would manually adjust it as needed, but it kept itself from changing brightness in conference rooms, people at my desk, etc. Recently, i hit something and turned the ambient light sensor back on. When i try to turn off the light sensor again, the max brightness i can make the display is extremely dim. It's so dim that i can barely read what is on my screen anymore.
tl;dr: Is there a way to have the laptop display be bright with the ambient light sensor disabled?

Hi Smithjr2,
You may press the Fn + Left arrow key on laptop keyboard to disable Ambient Light Sensor and then follow the steps in article http://dell.to/13f7ugH to adjust the brightness manually.
If you face any issues, I would suggest you to update the Control Point utility from Here -> Enter the Service Tag -> Select Correct OS -> Expand Control Point -> Download/install the latest Device drivers. Follow the onscreen instructions and restart the computer when prompted. Once the drivers are updated, you may follow the steps shared earlier to adjust the brightness.
Hope this helps.

Sundeep,
My laptop is set to max performance, so now when it's plugged in and the ambient light sensor being disabled works, but when i unplug the laptop, the display dims to below the min setting when the ambient light sensor is enabled. In the power settings for high-performance, plugged and unplugged display is set to 100%.

Hi Smithjr2,
I would suggest you to unplug the laptop from charger and then change the brightness to maximum in power settings as the these settings are saved in hardware profiles which are separate for plugged in and unplugged states. Also, would suggest you to turn off the Ambient light sensor if you do not require adaptive brightness.
If the issue persists, you may try adjusting the brightness from system setup :
Please reply with the findings. I would be glad to help you.
