Another Inspiron 1300 Power Problem
Like others on this forum I have a power problem with my Inspiron 1300.
Within the past year I replaced my AC power cord after it stopped working. Earlier this month, after seeing the battery life-ending warning, I replaced my battery. On the day I received the new battery, the computer powered up. But by the next day, it would not power up. There are no signs of life...none of the lights come on.
I have also tried a universal AC power cord we have at our home. Stilll no life.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Use a Dell adapter known to be working (the LED should be ON before you plug in the notebook end). If it's not, replace the adapter.
If the system won't power up, remove the battery. If it'll then power up, the battery is bad - have it replaced under warranty.
If the system won't power up thereafter, the mainboard is faulty - it's just not worth the cost to replace the board on a low-end system that's a few years old.
